  1. A couple of things I did not say in the discussion:

    1. No doubt this is a welcome move from SEBI - anything that increases access to investors for sound products like Mutual Funds should be welcomed.

    2. However, this increases the scope of mis-selling and mistreating MFs as a product. MFs are typically investment products, and not trading products. But, when you see Airtel and RIL next to your mutual fund schemes (in the same trading screens), brokers can treat them as fellow stocks and push them as trading products as well. If that happens, that would not be good for the investor.

Like I said, there are several unanswered questions about this move - how it will get implemented, who does what, how much it will cost the investors to use this new channel etc. Let's wait and see...

  2. Srikanth, Does that mean all funds have now become ETFs?

If yes, what was the USP of ETFs, and will they lose their USP going forward?

If i have a demat account with ICICI Direct and have already been buying/redeeming MF units until now, is there any new advantage for me because of this?
