Does she really say in the interview that she wears (or is in) purdah when outside her home. This can only be true of, perhaps her village, Thuvarankurichi as an official of the local governing body? I have seen her in public many times but never in Purdah - often with her head uncovered. Perhaps this is a more recent transformation. anjana
